About

Select City Briefing is for people comparing cities, imagining a move or simply curious about why urban places differ. We explain the features that can help make a city understandable, without pretending one set of priorities suits everyone.

What we cover

We look at city form, everyday amenities, housing character and access to common destinations. Our subjects are evergreen: the questions and distinctions readers can use when exploring places, rather than rankings that quickly lose context.

Who it is for

The publication is for curious general readers who want a clearer way to think about cities. You do not need specialist knowledge to follow along. Where a choice depends on personal circumstances or local conditions, we make that boundary clear.

How we explain

We define terms, distinguish general patterns from individual experience and explain why a feature matters before suggesting what to consider. We aim to make comparison more thoughtful, not to name a single best city.
